The first Virtual Job Fair in the province garners positive results

On June 23rd, RDÉE TNL, in partnership with the St. John’s Board of Trade, Connector NL and AXIS, held their first Virtual Job Fair  for newcomers.

During the event, close to 40 job seekers and 5 employers were able to meet in face-to-face online meetings with promising initial results: 3 offers of employment during the event, as well as potential future matches!

The first event of its kind in the province was motivated by the increase in the number of newcomers and those wishing to settle in the province, as well as the needs of employers.

The organizers used a videoconferencing platform that has gained popularity since the beginning of the COVID-19 confinement period, with “Breakout Rooms” to create multiple safe meeting spaces between participants.

Given the success of the partnership and the positive feedback from participants, the partners aim to establish this event on a periodic basis according to demand.
